Overview

The PIX11 Assignment Desk Intern must coordinate the gathering of news, generate story ideas, the scheduling and assign daily coverage, and the delivery of news material to reporters, photographers, and Tribune media partners.

Responsibilities

Assist with story research and social media.  Tweet breaking news information.  Must  have excellent phone etiquette.

Emailing news producers and managers with updates on reporter stories and forwarding news that comes through the assignment desk.

Answering phones on the assignment desk, checking assignment desk voice mail, adding assignments to opus daybook, beat calls, assisting reporters with logistics.

Qualifications

  • You must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Entering your Junior, or Senior year in the fall of 2018
  • Knowledgeable on multiple social media platforms.
