    KTXL/FOX40 is looking for an Information Systems Engineer to be a part of our Engineering Department. This opportunity allows the qualified applicant to expand their career in the IS field assisting the Engineering Department in network and infrastructure support, but also, become familiar and acquire experience with the broadcast operations of FOX40.


    MAJOR PURPOSE: To assist the Engineering Department in the administration, support, and maintenance of the KTXL/FOX40 network and infrastructure.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide system and end-user support for all KTXL/FOX40 network equipment and users
    • Isolate and troubleshoot computer problems with software and hardware configurations
    • Installation of workstations, servers, and network infrastructure devices including switches and routers
    • To assist in the developing, installing, and maintaining IT infrastructures that directly affect the air stream of KTXL
    • Administrative duties associated with server operations
    • To work closely with the other departments in the maintenance and operation of their equipment
    • Assist with cabling, wiring, terminations, and fabrication of interconnect facilities
    • Must be discreet with sensitive information and responsibilities
    • Additional duties as necessary and/or assigned



    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 10, along with Windows Server 2008 & 2012, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Linux, Juniper Switches
    • Knowledge of Apple IOS software, hardware, and networking
    • Valid California Driver’s license
    • This position requires an “on call” status when emergencies or breakdown of critical equipment occurs to the operation of KTXL
    • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Must have the ability to make decisions and take prompt action
    • Must be able to work alone and unsupervised when necessary
    • Must have attention to detail with great accuracy
    • Operation of company vehicles must be done with the safety of the operator, other personnel and the general public in mind, according to the guidelines of KTXL
    • Some local travel to transmitter and repeater locations may be necessary
    • Broadcast television experience preferred but not required

    Working Relationships

    • Must have good people skills in order to work with end-users , other engineers, and other departments

    Physical Demands

    • Physical ability and dexterity to work on small delicate components without damage to surrounding electronic parts and/or circuit boards; must use hands to do simple grasping, pushing, pulling
    • Physical ability to install replacement parts in a variety of physical locations
    • Physical ability to run and terminate cable as needed throughout facility
    • Must be able to occasionally climb ladders in building to assist with running cable for project installations
    • Must be able to bend at the neck and waist
    • Must be able to drive, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level; lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

     Work Environment

    • Work performed primarily in an office environment
    • May be exposed to the following conditions: heat/cold, dust, dampness, moving machinery, fumes, loud noises, height, confined spaces, electrical equipment, electrical and chemical issues


    Education and Experience

    • Minimum 2 year Degree (Military training and/or equivalent in computer related fields will be considered)
    • At least two years’ experience in networked computer support, hardware troubleshooting and installation, software installation and network management
    • Certifications a plus, but not required
    • Experience with video editing systems, streaming and file transfer, and recording formats desired
