WREG needs a free-thinking digital news reporter/producer and provider who can set the pace in an already fast-moving newsroom. We’re the number one station and news website and are primed to do a lot more.
This isn’t a job where you will sit at a desk and copy and paste wire copy onto the web. You’ll be in the field, finding interesting and relevant stories for our social media audience. You will shoot, write and edit stories for WREG.com and our social media sites on a daily basis. One day you may use a camera and the next your iPhone. There are no “rules” for this digital content provider; it’s all about expanding our social media presence.
Memphis is one of the busiest markets you’ll find anywhere. We have everything, from breaking news to severe weather to problems in the school system and government corruption. So you’ll need to be passionate about the news.
You’ll work hard at WREG, so you’ve got to be able to keep up. While social media will be a primary job function, you will also be asked to contribute stories to the station website and be part of our breaking news and weather coverage both online and on-air. This is a new position and you will help define what it becomes. Those merely interested need not apply. We want the passionate, the ones who bring it every single day and take no prisoners.
