  • Overview

    Assignment Editor’s primary function is to oversee the assignment desk. The assignment editor distributes news crews, assigns equipment, gathers news stories from various sources and communicates with producers, managers and web staff.


    Responsibilities include but are not limited to…
    -Assign reporters, and photographers
    -Gather news stories from email, social media, sources, phone callers and scanners.
    -Confirm information from sources
    -Set up news stories
    -Communicate information to news and digital staff


    Ideally, assignment editors have two years of desk experience preferably in the Cleveland or nearby markets. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
