    WHNT, a Tribune Broadcasting station, has an opening for a full-time Broadcast Engineer to work in our Huntsville, AL location.

     

    The Broadcast Engineer will have a strong engineering background with an emphasis on speed and accuracy. The candidate with have a comfort with information technology and a passion for learning new technology in a fast-paced and challenging news operations environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, evaluate and purchase new technology; integrate new technology with current systems
    • Support and implement new station technology; train department and other station staff as appropriate
    • Maintain and repair station gear and equipment; facility maintenance
    • Provide IT support for studio equipment
    • Responsible for media management. Manage timing, check promos/commercials that are in Brutus
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ degree in engineering preferred; relevant work experience required
    • 3-5 years’ experience as a Broadcast Engineer for a broadcast television station
    • Project management, communication skills, and ability delegate tasks required
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft OS and Office Suites, Automation Systems, Linux and Networking
    • Knowledge of Electrical Systems, UPS, and standby generators, and record keeping
    • Knowledge of telephone systems and protocols including, POTS and VoIP Systems
    • May be required to lift 50 pounds
    • Must be able to work efficiently under deadlines and time constraints
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Must be able to work flexible schedule including nights, holidays and weekends
