    WGN America, one of the country’s fastest growing and most innovative cable networks, is seeking a Direct Response Director to help us grow this critical revenue stream.  We’re looking for a self-motivated, competitive and energetic professional to help inspire, motivate and grow an innovative and expanding Direct Response Team.  This Director will lead the Direct Response Team to identify, qualify and sell Direct Response advertising time to national advertising agencies and clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and expertise to manage the Direct Response Team
    • Manage the DR Team in all facets of sales, inventory placements, filler and local packages
    • Develop new business channels for all short and long form Direct Response sales at WGN America
    • Act as point person, and manage relationship with our third party Paid Programming vendor
    • Manage a sales pipeline by prospecting, identifying and qualifying new clients to generate leads and referrals
    • Establishes and fosters working relationships with key decision makers
    • Strategize with Pricing and Planning Team and Senior Management for budgeting projections
    • Control pricing to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals
    • Business development to grow existing revenue

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 8-10 years of cable or broadcast Direct Response television sales
    • Demonstrated history and success of contracting and developing client relationships at the Senior (Decision Maker) level or Agency level
    • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
    • Previous experience managing a Sales Team in an efficient and professional manner
    • Demonstrated experience in Forecasting and Sales Reporting
    • The ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment
    • Skilled at negotiation, closing deals and working well under pressure
    • The desire to succeed in sales, be goal-oriented and determined
